1. Who we are
Foraged (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a personal recipe collection app. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to being transparent about how we handle your data.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information — your email address, used to sign in and communicate with you.
- Profile data — your first name, if you choose to provide it.
- Recipe data — recipes you save, including any imported content, images, notes, and tags.
- Usage data — device type and approximate session timestamps, used to improve the service and for account security.
- Settings — your preferences (e.g. reminder frequency, meal planner layout), stored so your experience is consistent across sessions.
When payment is introduced, it will be handled by a PCI-compliant third party (e.g. Stripe). We will not store payment card details directly.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Foraged service.
- To send you transactional emails (e.g. email verification, password reset).
- To identify and resolve issues with the service.
- To detect and prevent abuse or unauthorised access.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Data storage and security
Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the database is restricted to authenticated requests using row-level security policies.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
5. Sharing your data
We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting). These providers process data only on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
- Legal obligations — if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not share your recipe data or personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.
6. Share links
If you generate a share link for a recipe, anyone with that link can view the recipe — including its name, ingredients, and instructions — without signing in. You can revoke a share link at any time from the recipe page; revocation takes effect immediately.
7. Cookies and local storage
We use a minimal authentication cookie to keep you signed in. We also use browser local storage to remember small UI preferences (e.g. dismissed banners). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data — contact us and we will provide it.
- Correct inaccurate data — update your name and preferences in Settings at any time.
- Delete your account and all associated data — email us at hello@foraged.app with the subject “Delete my account”.
- Object to processing — contact us with your specific concern.
9. Children
Foraged is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice in the app. Continued use of Foraged after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
