Frequently asked questions
Saving recipes
How do I save a recipe?
Click + Add recipe on your collection page. Paste the URL of any recipe page and Foraged will automatically extract the name, ingredients, instructions, cook time, and a photo. You can review and edit everything before saving.
You can also enter a recipe manually — just leave the URL field blank and fill in the details yourself.
Why didn't the recipe import correctly?
Recipe websites vary wildly in how they structure their content. Foraged tries its best to parse ingredients and instructions, but some sites use unusual layouts that trip up the importer. If a field is empty or wrong after importing, you can edit it directly on the review screen before saving.
We log failed imports to improve the parser over time. If a popular site consistently fails, we prioritise fixing it.
How many recipes can I save?
Free accounts can save up to 25 recipes. Pro accounts have no limit.
Can I edit a recipe after saving it?
Yes. Open any recipe and tap the edit button (pencil icon). You can change any field, update the photo, or add personal notes. Changes are saved immediately.
Sharing
How do I share a recipe?
Open the recipe and tap Share. This generates a unique link that anyone can open — no account required. Share it via message, email, or anywhere else.
What can people see when they open a shared link?
They can see the recipe name, ingredients, instructions, cook time, and any hero image. They cannot see your personal notes, your account details, or any other recipes in your collection.
Can I stop sharing a recipe?
Yes. Open the recipe, go to the Share section, and tap Revoke link. The link stops working immediately. You can generate a new link at any time.
Meal planner
How does the meal planner work?
The meal planner is a weekly grid showing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert for each day. Open it from your collection page (the calendar icon in the top right). Tap recipes to add them to a staging area, then drag them into the grid slots.
You can navigate between weeks, save named plans, and load previously saved plans.
Is the meal planner a Pro feature?
Yes, the meal planner is available to Pro subscribers.
How do I generate a shopping list?
Once you have recipes placed in the meal planner grid, a shopping cart icon appears in the planner header. Tap it to open the shopping list. You can view ingredients by recipe or as a combined list. Uncheck items you already have, then tap Printto open a print-ready version with your remaining items plus extra blank lines for anything you'd like to add.
Can I have certain rows collapsed by default?
Yes. Go to Settings and scroll to the Meal planner section. Toggle on any meal rows you want collapsed by default when you open the planner.
